Get ready for a new kind of phone! Samsung just showed off its latest foldable phones, but there’s an even crazier one on the way. They’re making a phone that folds three times, and it’s set to launch by the end of this year.
People thought Samsung might show this super-folding phone at their July event, but that didn’t happen. No worries, though, because Samsung itself has confirmed it’s still coming. TM Roh, consumer electronics chief at Samsung, told The Korea Times, “We expect to launch the tri-fold phone this year.” He also said they’re working hard to make it perfect and figure out its name. Another Samsung person even told Android Authority that the phone is ready to be made!
So, even though it’s ready, Samsung is thinking carefully. They’re wondering if enough people really want a phone that folds three ways. A Samsung official stated they’re “deeply investigating” the justification for an immediate launch. Therefore, don’t expect it to appear in every store initially. Its debut could be limited to select regions, perhaps Korea and China, as a way to assess market interest.
This fancy new phone, maybe called the Galaxy G Fold, is rumored to have a huge 10-inch screen when it’s totally open. It’ll be powered by a super-fast Snapdragon 8 Elite chip and built with a tough titanium frame. Plus, it’s expected to have amazing cameras, like a 200-megapixel main camera.
What’s really cool is how it folds. Unlike some other tri-fold phones that leave part of the screen exposed, Samsung’s design keeps the screen safe inside. This makes it more durable and less likely to break if you drop it. Samsung has even hidden animations in its software showing how it works!
But all this new tech won’t come cheap. Experts think this triple-folding phone could cost around $3,000, maybe even more. That’s a lot of money, especially since their current foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, already starts at $2,000.
While we didn’t see it at the last event, Samsung might show it off soon, perhaps at another event later this year. The big question isn’t if Samsung will make a triple-folding phone, but when everyone will be ready for it.
